30 kilometres...CHECK!

Took 30 km with the "Dream-Team" on exactly 2h and 59 minutes. Weather was SHIIT! Sno-mixed rain, slivery-wet sh--- roads, humidity = 100 % and t = 1-2 degrees celcius. But the dogs did a great job. Now they will have some days to rest in. Paws need it, and I have to go to Denmark, I have a very sick old father in hospital.

Finally snow!

Finally we had some snow. Not enough to start preparing the tracks, but enough to make the world look white and cold. Dogs love it!

Had to loosen up my mind. My father is in hospital, and I have been very worried the latest couple of days. I'm going home to see him next weekend, but he is 90 years old and anything can happen in that age, when You catch pneumonia!

So I ran 8 km on 45 minutes! So far the knees seems to have accepted the punishment, but to morrow will show how well :-) Pain is STILL just a mental state!

Later I drove the "Dream-Team" 15 km - no stops in the forest after it had become dark. I think the darkness made the dogs more eager to run. Perhaps they felt how the animals started to be active around them.. No matter what did it, they were literarily flying tonight! Did the trip in app. one hour! Tommorrow we will be taking a longer trip!

25!!!

Took the my team out on 25 km today. Nice ride, only one stop on app 5-10 minutes. Time: 2:10!
I'm very pleased with my dawgs!

We now have more than 230 km inthe legs of each dog of this team!

22 km...

Today we took the 3 dogs in the dream-team out on 22 km. We did the ride in exactly 2 hours. Weather had become a little colder and the road was frozen. The cart and I weight app 110-115 kg, so I'm very pleased with their performance.

10 km in 49 minutes..

8/11 took the 3 dogs: Imelda, Silver and Anna out on a fast ride on only 10 km, just to make them have fun! We drove on a new track, and the dogs were really on to it. Though I stopped several times, because of the temperature (T=8-9 degrees Celcius) we made the run on 49 minutes inclusive the stops.

A long vet ride in the forest!

Had a great day in the woods! despite of fog and rain + the temperature between 6-8 degrees Celcius, the dogs did a very good job. The cart and I weighs 110-115 kg and the roads were very muddy. Drove the 3 dogs 24 km. Took a break on 15-16 minutes, were we had a cup of tea and some sandwiches + gave the muddy -"muds" their water and snacks. The total time inclusive this break and some other small breaks (to avoid overheating because of the heat and moisture) was less than 2 hours and 40 minutes. Now I only long for the winter to come for real!

Mtb-training

Muddy-grey is THE color again this autumn!
Took each dog out on 9-10 km alone on the mountainbike. Roads are TERRIBLE right now! I want the mtb-rides to let the dogs loosen up and trot in a fast and steady way with out any weight at all. This is only for their recreation of their stiff muscles and to make their VO2 increase. So I had to do a lot of work my self. And after 27-28 km on these roads, I look like beauty-parlors total amount of mudd-masks! But I feel GOOD!

Training ME - Coopers test..

Today I did the "short-test" on my self: 2500 meters on 12 minutes, I was faster this summer, but now I know what I have to go for.. Would like to get back upon the 2700 meters..
And I WILL get there.
Tomorrow I'll take the dogs out again on a longer trip..

October was unusually warm and moisty. But I’m glad, that everything is not yet covered in snow. I still have a lot of things left undone, since I had my operation in my shoulder. Last year I had a TOTAL luxation and they ”missed” the fact, that the cartilage was ruptured, so the arm did not really attached the joint properly for more than a year! Amazing what You CANNOT see on MR-scans! (I had exrays + TWO scans!)

Alex has made me a ”snowgrooming-device” so we will have nice tracks to train on. I need that, because I have a vision on getting better on skating-skies!

Due to different circumstances, we do not train all our dogs. O’Nelly and Blackout are only 7 month, Ajax is 12, Madsen is on Levaxin and Phenobarbitol and Dizzy is only doing a good job, when she is NOT running on snow. She was spooked like hell once in a team of 4 dogs, but I use her as a great running-partner.
Grizly was hit by a train going 70 km/h but survived. He still has some pains, which is understandeble. Left are Anna, Silver and Imelda. But in a month the two youngsters will be introduced to pulling a dogsled too.

So far this is what we have accieved in October + 1 1/2 week of September:

Imelda: 148,4 km
Silver: 148,3 km
Anna: 139,9 km
Nelly: 3,5 km
Blackie: 7,5 km
Dizzy : 22,2 km
Grizly : 15 km
Madsen: 14,5 km
Ajax: 12 km
Kirsten Poulsen: 115,2km

Traininglogg November:
Imelda: 148,4 km
Silver: 148,3 km
Anna: 139,9 km
Nelly: 3,5 km
Blackie: 7,5 km
Dizzy : 22,2 km
Grizly : 15 km
Madsen: 14,5 km
Ajax: 12 km
Kirsten Poulsen: 115,2km + 2,5 = 117,7 km

Above twenty...

WOW! What a great day! (Except for the fact, that we are without electricity!-must call the "handyman" tomorrow) I drove 21,3 km with the team consisting of Imelda, Silver and Anna-Banana! We took a tea-break on 10-15 minutes in the middle of the trip. Here is a photo of the banana after the ride. Do I need to tell You that she was a wheeler this time?

Short trail :-D

29/10 Took Imelda and Silver out for only 6 km and Anna on the mtb; only 7,5 km. It's good to vary the distance and the route. Then I walked O'Nelly. Now she is inside with us as the only malamute. That's something she likes! She OWNS the couch!

Training ME!

Back again! did a little over 5 km in shitty, muddy, rainy f..... weather cursing at the end over the fact, that we live on a hill. Meaning the last 750 meters is going upupup.up..up....up................and up! in an eternity :-/
Anyway, that's no excuse, did the tripp in less than 29-30 minutes. (my cellphone is simply not sufficient for this - I want to have a new pulse-clock with GPS from Garmnin!)
Maxpulse after the hills somewhat more than 170 beats/minutes, pulse after 2 minutes on the white canister (-taking the regular after-running-dump!) was app. 100-120 beats/minutes. It could easily be done better, but I have less than 3 years left before I hit the big 50..
AND.. I'm a woman. So I'm still pleased:
BTW weigth: 61,4 kg...
I found a "before-photo from a show 3 years ago.... OMG was I that FAT? Thats 23 kg away by now!

3 dogs in front of the cart..

‎25/10 took a small walk with O'Nelly. She is in heat, and she doesn't go together with her brother of cause :-b
Then I drove Imelda, Silver and Anna 10 km in front of the cart. They did a very fast job. And it looks like my training on the mtb with Anna has cured her for only going this funny pace. Now she chooses by her self to go trotting.

    • Imelda: 4+7+6+10+7,6+15+12+12+18,5+10,5 = 121,1 km
    • Silver 6,4+7,5+7+6+12+10+7,6+6+12+18,5+10,5 = 122 km
    • Anna 6,4+7,5+6+8+8,6+15,5+12+18,5+10,5 = 111,1 km
    • Nelly 2,5 km
    • Blackie 2,5+5 = 7,5 km
    • Dizzy 10+2+5+4,2 = 22,2 km
    • Grizly 3+4+4+4 = 15 km
    • Madsen 4+2+3,5+5 = 14,5 km
    • Ajax 10+2 = 12 km
    • Kirsten Poulsen 10+2,5+3+2+6+4+3,5+5+8+2+6+8,6+15+6+15,5+4+4,2+5 =115,2 km

    Unexpected visitors!

Had wonderfull unexpected visitors from Denmark (Claus & Tina) and they went along with me in the forrest both days, training the dogs. Saturday Imelda, Silver and Anna got 12 km and Sunbday they took 18,5 km
Madsen and one of the puppies; Blackie, was accompanying us on a walk on 5 km.
Thank You for a lovely weekend, Claus and Tina!

    BE BACK SOON!

    I'm back!!!

Finally the cold left me, my sinus's are getting back to their normal function, wich by the way do NOT include producing tons of slimy green ectoplasma!
Yesterday I walked Grizly 4 km and today I ran with Dizzy: 4,2 km in a little less than 20 minutes. I felt how my lungs still hadn't got their full capacity, but what the heck.. Pain is just a mental state!
Tomorrow I'll try to use my new gang-lines for the nordic style on the wagon.
    It's great to feel alive!

Sick as a skunk!! Must have caught a cold somewhere.. my head is spinning around, is filled with yucky-stuff, and there will be no dogtraining for a couple of days. But here is another photo from the weekend-training.

    Sunday, October 16, 2011

I'm in the process of renewing the ganglines to my sled. Did no training today, but have edited the photos Alex took from yesterdays training.

    Days are getting colder.....

    Hello
Finally the days seems to get colder. Today the frost was decorating every piece of straw and leaf.
    I was so beautiful.
I drove Imelda and Silver 12 km in front of the cart, and later on I took the mtb and drove 15,5 km. Since I started the mtb-training with Anna, she chooses herself to go trotting, and she has even learned to go in a slower pace in trott. So next week I'll put her into the team again. That will be exiting, because we will be driving the cart with the same type of harness/ganglines as we use to go skijoring with. These dogs has never used that, so it'll be interesting to see their reaction.
Now I need a quick shower, before I join my dear husband at "Görans"
Göran is the nearest neighbour we have, he has a small cottage by the lake, and he is a true gourmet and a fine person as a friend!
Please cross Your fingers, that he won't pour too much wine in the head of me :-)

    Finally FRIDAY!!!

Beautiful sunny weather and clear skye, t = a couple degrees below zero, I took a fast evening-ride on the MTB with Silver. 6 km pretty fast.
Tomorrow Anna-Banna will be given a longer trip.

    Ups and downs..

Yesterday was definitely a down-day. Had a bad case of migraine, when I came home from work...
Why is it necessary?... Why do I have to spend my time working??? OK OK! I know MONEY!
    Well fuck yesterday :-)

    Today is an UP-DAY!
I took Imelda and the mountain-bike and drove 15 km! We did GREAT the both of us :-D
So now we are having our reward: Imelda in her kennel eating her dinner, me at the table eating MY dinner: Smoked ribs from reindeer YUMMY!

Tomorrow is friday, can't wait for the weekend to come. ..No! I'm not doing anything speciel, just like to be at home, training the dogs, and perhaps going to the "woods" with Ingvar and Alex and Mauser one of the days. Perhaps a moose would cross the ballistic curve of my cal. 6,5.. Who knows :-)

    Have a splendid evening!

    • Imelda: 4+7+6+10+7,6+15 = 49,6 km
    • Silver 6,4+7,5+7+6+10+7,6 = 44,5 km
    • Anna 6,4+7,5+6+8+8,6 = 36,1 km
    • Nelly 2,5 km
    • Blackie 2,5 km
    • Dizzy 10+2+5 = 17 km
    • Grizly 3+4 = 7 km
    • Madsen 4+2+3,5 = 9,5 km
    • Ajax 10+2 = 12 km
    • Kirsten Poulsen 10+2,5+3+2+6+4+3,5+5+8+2+6+8,6+15 = 75,6 km

    Preparations..

Just returned from the vet, bought two new harness's and are in the process of making new gangllines for the upcoming season.
It's like decorating the house before Christmas :-)

    Going Banana!!

10/10 took Anna-Banna 8,6 km infront of the mtb. She kept trotting in a high pace all the way. She was really givin' her self today :-) I just love that girl! The gang: Silvar, Imelda, Grizly and Blackie are together in the playground. They have been scooting around for an hour.
My personal little victory today consisted of being able to handle the airgun again after the operation. And manege to hit the target as well!
Tomorrow the rifle will be tested. Our hunting-companion is waiting for me to be able to join him in the woods. We would love to take down a moose soon!

    -As would the dogs!

    Snow!!!

Today we saw the first snow falling down... and melting away just as fast as it hit the ground. But still it made me long for sledding and skiing..
And it made me remember, that preparing the outdoor-areas for the wintertime is the next job -as is getting the snowblizzard and the two snowmobiles to town for service.
Tree years ago we had 1,25 meters in just two days as early as the 19th of october!
I also had to seperate Anna from the boys now, including her son; Blackout. She started her heat today!
So now Blackie is going with his father. It's time for one of those "man to man-talk" :-)
Behind stands another happy face: Madsen. Theis sweet boy will be the one spending the night indoors tonight.
Grizly and his son has taken the completely new kennel and luxury-dubble-doghouse in their position.
Grizly must have been very pleased with the new surroundings, because he used 15 minutes just to make sure NO PART of the doghouse was "un-pissed"!
    Photos will come soon!

Why dogs and men need to be couch-potatoes :-)

Today I managed to finish the last painting-works, that needed to be done in our kitchen, glad it's over :-)
So perhaps now I can start completing the new kennel. Couldn't do it today because the gravel had not arrived. Instead I walked Madsen in the forrest, he has become like a little puppy again, being on Phenobarbitol: Not cleaver, but very playful.
The old dogs has been in the playground all day, and I took Imelda and Silver out 7,6 km with the cart. It has been raining like h... the last week, so of cause they were both tired and dirty after the exercise, and my hubby was also tired (-from looking at all my activities :-D), so again I ended up with two couchpotatoes in the bed, were I had fantasized on resting :-/
Though they did look rather cute, Alex and Imelda, when they both fell asleep on the couch; Imelda in Alex's arms with her dirty paws and head on his chest. So I had not the heart for kicking them down :-D

    • Imelda: 4+7+6+10+7,6 = 34,6 km
    • Silver 6,4+7,5+7+6+10+7,6 = 44,5 km
    • Anna 6,4+7,5+6+8 = 27,5 km
    • Nelly 2,5 km
    • Blackie 2,5 km
    • Dizzy 10+2+5 = 17 km
    • Grizly 3+4 = 7 km
    • Madsen 4+2+3,5 = 9,5 km
    • Ajax 10+2 = 12 km
    • Kirsten Poulsen 10+2,5+3+2+6+4+3,5+5+8+2+6 = 52 km

    So much for being "macho"!!!

Today I'm NOT going to run anywhere...
Weather is just as bad as yesterday, even worse. My shoulder and knees has taken revenge over my physical activities yesterday. I'm starting on my work again on monday after 6 weeks of sick-leave, so I'd better take care of my self the next couple of days :-) So today I'll be walking the puppies and training the couch-potatoes.

I ordered more gravel for the new dog-kennels, and they promised me to deliver it today. Now I only need to get hold of our friend with the tractor. The photo belowe shows my favorite two couch-potatoes :-D
    Grizly and Alex!

    Training-start sep-oct. 2011

Finally I could skip the mitella, that had carried my newly operated shoulder for the last month. It still hurts, but I dare to start train the dogs -and start running again.
My shoulder still doesn't allow me to go long distances, especially not on the MTB, since I can only hold on to the steer with one hand. It becomes tirering, and it is a bit risky :-) yet.. If You don't sometimes "risk your life" You don't know when to value it  :-)
Madsen and Grizly are just being trained for their reckonvalecens. Madsen has epileptic seizures, that appeared after a serious headtrauma. Grizly was hit by a freighttrain going 70 km/h. So they don't get to pull anything yet, I just let them run in front of me, when I run or besides the MTB. So they are my trainingspartners so to speak.

Ajax is almost 12, and of cause only works shorter distances, she has had shoulderproblems earlier, and we don't want them to reappear.Dizzy is my trainingpartner for more serious running and bicykling on the MTB. Something has spoked her, when snow and sleds gets involved, then she is instabil. But she is great to run with.

Our Young dogs; O'Nelly and Blackout are only 5 month, we have walked them and will soon be testing them in a harness, but they won't be put in the team for shorter runs before the age of 7-8 month. Until then, I'll run them and go with them shorter distances 1-3 km on the MTB, as they are maturing.

Our new team; Anna, Silver and Imelda are givin' the full amount of training. Right now I'm training Anna only on the MTB. She has had this weird way of running, not trotting, not galloping, but now she has develloped a lot and she has started to go trotting more and more. So I'm trying to "train up" her muscles in the back, just like we do it with young horses: Letting them run freely in a loong trott, were they take out the steps, lower their heads and make the back get up and help carying the body. I have a theory that this is good for dogs too.

Imelda and Silver are being trained in a two-dog-team infront of the cart, and sometimes alone infront of the MTB. It's my goal to be able to let Anna go single lead and have these two elephants as wheelers. My goal for the season is neing able to participate in the inofficial event KUNGSLEDEN 2012 and to take the polardog-test with the tree of them Nordic style.

My personal training is difficult due to my shoulderop. And I have a coupple of kneeinjuries too. But old horses shoulden't be standing in the barn, then they fall apart. So I run up to 5 km and I use the MTB. When the snow comes, I have to train up better skills in going skijoring with the dogs.

Are pleased with my progress today :-) First I ran 2 km with Ajax, the old girl. Then I felt so warm, that I skipped having another dog infront of me, and I ran 6 km alone in a moderate speed; 10-11km/h. My mind and my lungs/heart is set for going 10 km. But my knees starts complaining after 6 km. My shoulder doesn't like running at all, but since it ISN'T running (My legs do that), I simply doesn't listen to it.
Finally I drove Imelda and Silver 10 infront of the cart. Now I need a shower + a couple of the goood pills, the doctor gave me :-/

Below is the amount of km we have been doing until today; 6/10

    • Imelda: 4+7+6+10 = 27 km
    • Silver 6,4+7,5+7+6+10 = 36,9 km
    • Anna 6,4+7,5+6+8 = 27,5 km
    • Nelly 2,5 km
    • Blackie 2,5 km
    • Dizzy 10+2+5 = 17 km
    • Grizly 3+4 = 7 km
    • Madsen 4+2+3,5 = 9,5 km
    • Ajax 10+2 = 12 km
    • Kirsten Poulsen 10+2,5+3+2+6+4+3,5+5+8+2+6 = 52 km
